We are not a law firm. We're the people who pick up when you're finally ready to ask, and we stay with you, for as long as it takes, until you know where you stand.

Stand with survivors

Carrying this alone is hard enough. Having to tell it twice before anybody believes you is worse. We meet people where they are, we take them at their word the first time, and we don't leave.

Stand with the families

The mother who found out too late. The husband who never knew. The people around a survivor carry it too, and they deserve somebody who will look them in the eye and tell them what can actually be done.

Stand up to the institutions

Hospitals, schools, programs, the kind with a legal department and a reputation to guard. Every time one more survivor steps forward, it gets that much harder for them to bury the next.

Who we are

We are not lawyers. We are people who have been where you are.

Every one of us came to this work through a door we did not choose. Some of us are survivors. Some of us are the mother who learned the truth years after the fact, or the husband who watched his wife go quiet whenever one hospital came up on the news. What we share is simple. Someone we love was hurt in a place that promised to keep them safe, and when it counted, that place looked after itself.

So we built ME2 to be what we needed back then and couldn't find anywhere. Not a hotline with a hold queue. Not a website that wants your phone number before it tells you anything. A person who picks up, who has heard this before, and who will not flinch.

We look after the heart. The lawyers look after the law.

We are not here to build a case out of you. We are here so that you know your options, plainly and without pressure, and so that nobody has to face that question alone. What you do with them is yours to decide, and only yours.

Every campaign starts with one question.

Before we ask anyone their name, we ask ourselves a harder question. What is keeping this person silent, and what would it take to lift it? We ask it about every place we stand with, and the answer comes out the same. A few questions, one real person, one call, and nothing more unless you want it.

Patients sedated for procedures at St. Bernard Parish Hospital in Chalmette between 2023 and May 2026, and patients of Dr. Beary anywhere else. Two patients have already taken the hospital to court. You don't have to remember anything to ask.

A Champaign County jury heard what the hospital knew and awarded one thirteen-year-old patient more than any single person in Illinois history. The trial record describes a dozen others between 2015 and 2020. If you were a Pavilion patient, any unit, there is no deadline if you were a minor.

Rosemead, El Monte, Arroyo, Mountain View, South El Monte. The state read 113 complaints and said in March the district hadn't done its job; more than a dozen former students are in court. Born after 1986, there is still time on age alone.

A thirteen-year-old assaulted on the adolescent unit in 2021 and a mother told nothing until discharge. Two suits on file, and the state has fined the hospital for not reporting as recently as last New Year's Eve. Teenagers then, adults now: the deadline runs to 40.

The long view

What the long-term effects can look like

Nobody's version of this is the same. Some of it shows up the week after. Some of it waits twenty years and then arrives all at once. You don't have to know which of these is yours to reach out. You only have to recognize one.

In the mind

Flashbacks. Panic that arrives out of nowhere. Anxiety like a low hum you stopped noticing years ago, or a depression with no reason you can point to. Trouble trusting anyone. Yourself included.

In the body

Sleep that never quite comes. Pain that doctors can't explain. Appointments you keep cancelling, especially the kind where they put you under.

In how you cope

Drinking more than you meant to. Numbing out. Hurting yourself, or pulling away from anyone who gets close.

In your relationships

Going quiet with the people who love you. A fear of closeness. A marriage with a room nobody goes into.

At work, and with money

Missed days. A job that ended. A career that stalled for reasons you never explained to anyone.

Wondering whether it counts. Whether you're remembering it right. Whether you're allowed to be this affected by something you were told to forget.

We are not doctors or therapists, and this page is not a diagnosis. If any of it sounds like you, that is reason enough to ask.

What gets in the way of asking

We asked survivors, and ourselves, what stopped us. This is the list, and it isn't finished. We know most of these from the inside. Taking them out of the way, one at a time, is the work.

  • Being afraid nobody will believe you
  • Shame that was never yours to begin with
  • Blaming yourself
  • Not remembering all of it, or any of it
  • Flashbacks the moment you try to talk about it
  • The thought of ever seeing them again
  • Not wanting your family to know
  • Not knowing what to call what happened
  • Thinking too much time has passed
  • Not understanding how any of the legal side works
  • Being told, once, to keep quiet
  • Having nobody to ask
  • Worrying about what it would cost
  • Not being able to take a day off work for it
  • A record, or an immigration status, you think rules you out
  • Being brushed off already, by the police or by the place itself
  • Fear that it becomes public
  • Dreading a long fight
  • Pressure to settle, or to drop it
  • Not knowing a civil case from a criminal one
  • Advice from the internet that is simply wrong
  • Being worn out by the whole idea of it
  • Not knowing whether you're allowed to ask for someone else
  • Feeling that justice is for other people

We listen

You tell us as much or as little as you want, once, to one person. Nothing gets passed around. You never repeat it to a stranger.

We connect you

If there is a path, we bring in lawyers who are licensed in your state and do this work every day. A civil case doesn't need a conviction, or even a police report. If there isn't a path, we tell you that too, plainly.

We stay

We don't hand you off and disappear. The lawyers handle the law. We stay on the line for everything else, for as long as you want us there, and the moment you say stop, everything stops.

We don't put a name here on a rumor. Somebody was arrested, or somebody filed, or a judge ruled. That's the bar. Records move, and when one does, what we tell you moves with it. Look for the date next to each name. That's how fresh it is.
