Privacy Policy

ME2 Survivors Alliance (“ME2”, “we”, “us”) operates the websites and pages where this policy is linked, including me2survivorsalliance.com and the institution-specific pages it hosts. Our address is 1712 Pioneer Ave, Suite 101, Cheyenne, Wyoming 82001. This policy explains what we collect when you use our pages, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It is written to be read; if any part is unclear, write to m.goldman@me2survivorsalliance.com and we will explain it.

1. Who we are and what we do

ME2 Survivors Alliance is not a law firm and does not give legal advice. We publish information about institutions where abuse has been reported, and we help people who were affected connect with independent law firms that evaluate and, if they choose, take on those cases. When you complete one of our questionnaires, the information you give us is used to make that connection. We may be paid by a law firm in connection with the referrals we make.

2. What we collect

Notice at collection: the categories below are collected for the purposes in section 3 and kept for the periods in section 9.

Information you give us. Your name, phone number, email address, and the answers you give in a questionnaire: where something happened, roughly when, whether it happened to you or to someone you are responsible for, how and when you would like to be contacted, and anything you choose to write in a free-text box. Some of these answers are sensitive: they may reveal that you or a family member experienced abuse, received treatment at a particular facility, were detained at a particular facility, or attended a particular school. We ask only for what a law firm needs to decide whether it can help, and we never ask you to describe what happened in detail on a web form.

Information collected automatically. When you visit a page we collect the usual technical record: IP address, device and browser type, the page you came from, the pages you viewed, how far you got in a questionnaire, and the advertising identifiers that tell us which ad brought you here. We use Google Analytics, Microsoft Clarity (which records how a page is used, with typed text masked), and the Meta Pixel for this. See section 7 for how to limit it.

Calls and messages. If you call us or we call you, the call may be recorded and transcribed through our call-tracking provider so that the person who follows up knows what was said. We tell you at the start of a recorded call. Text messages you exchange with us are stored the same way.

Information from law firms. After we refer you, the firm may tell us whether it took your case and, later, how it was resolved. We keep that so we can measure whether our referrals are useful; we do not receive the details of your legal matter.

3. Why we use it

To contact you in the way you asked; to check that a case type and time frame fits what a firm handles; to send your information to a law firm you are matched with; to keep a record of your consent; to measure which pages and ads work; to protect our systems and comply with law. We do not use your questionnaire answers to build advertising audiences, and we do not sell them.

4. Who we share it with

• Law firms. The purpose of the questionnaire is to send your contact details and answers to a law firm that handles cases of that kind in your state. Once a firm has your information, its own privacy practices and its duties to you as a prospective client apply. We tell you which firm has your information if you ask.
• Service providers that act on our instructions: our customer-relationship system (HubSpot), call tracking and recording (CallRail), email delivery, web hosting, and analytics. They may not use your information for their own purposes.
• Advertising platforms (notice of third-party data collection). Our pages use the Meta Pixel and Google tags (Google Analytics and Google Ads conversion tracking) to measure whether an ad led to a page visit or a completed questionnaire. These tools collect information through cookies and similar identifiers — your IP address, browser and device details, the pages you view, and the fact that a form was submitted — and Meta and Google use it under their own privacy policies, including to measure and improve advertising. We have configured them so that they do not receive your name, phone number, email address, or any questionnaire answer; nothing about abuse, treatment, detention or schooling is sent to an advertising platform. We do not use your questionnaire answers to create advertising audiences or to target you with ads. In some states this measurement counts as “sharing” for cross-context behavioural advertising; section 7 and section 8 explain how to opt out, including through Meta’s ad settings (facebook.com/adpreferences), Google’s ad settings (adssettings.google.com), the Global Privacy Control signal, and the Digital Advertising Alliance opt-out (optout.aboutads.info).
• When the law requires it, or to protect someone’s safety, or if our organisation is sold or reorganised (in which case this policy continues to apply to information already collected).

We do not sell personal information for money.

5. Consent to be contacted

When you submit a questionnaire and tick the box agreeing to our Terms of Use and this policy, you agree that ME2 and the law firm you are matched with may contact you at the number and email you provided, by phone call, text message, and email, including with automated dialling and prerecorded messages, about your inquiry. Message and data rates may apply. Consent is not a condition of receiving help; you can tell us to stop at any time by replying STOP to a text, saying so on a call, or emailing us, and we will stop and tell the firm to stop. We keep a record of the consent language you saw and when you agreed to it.

6. Children and people who are not the survivor

Our pages are for adults. If you are completing a questionnaire on behalf of a child or another person, you tell us so in the first question and you confirm you are their parent or guardian or otherwise entitled to act for them. We do not knowingly collect information directly from anyone under 18; if we learn we have, we delete it and tell the firm to do the same.

7. Cookies and tracking

We use a small number of cookies and similar tools: those needed for the questionnaire to work, and those that measure traffic and advertising (Google Analytics, Microsoft Clarity, Meta Pixel, Google Ads). You can block them with your browser settings, the Global Privacy Control signal (which we honour), Meta’s ad settings, and Google’s ad settings. Blocking them does not affect your ability to complete a questionnaire.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live you may have the right to know what personal information we hold about you, to receive a copy, to correct it, to delete it, to opt out of the sharing of your information for cross-context advertising, and to limit the use of sensitive information. Residents of California have these rights under the CCPA/CPRA; residents of other states with comprehensive privacy laws — including Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Utah, Texas, Oregon, Montana, New Jersey, Delaware, New Hampshire, Iowa, Nebraska, Kentucky, Tennessee, Minnesota, Maryland, Rhode Island and Indiana — have similar rights. To use them, email m.goldman@me2survivorsalliance.com; we will verify it is you (usually by confirming the phone or email on file) and respond within the time the law allows. You may authorise someone to act for you. We do not treat you differently for using these rights. If we refuse a request, we tell you why and how to appeal.

Sensitive personal information. Your questionnaire answers about abuse, treatment, detention or schooling are sensitive personal information. We use them only to make and record the referral described above, which is a use you would reasonably expect; we do not use them to infer characteristics about you for any other purpose.

“Do not sell or share my personal information.” We do not sell personal information. To opt out of the advertising measurement described in section 4, use the “Do not sell or share my personal information” link in the footer of any page, or send the Global Privacy Control signal from your browser; we honour it for that browser.

9. How long we keep it

Questionnaire submissions and consent records: three years from your last contact with us, or longer if a firm has taken your case and needs the referral record, or if the law requires it. Call recordings: one year. Analytics data: as set in each tool, currently 14 months for Google Analytics. When a retention period ends we delete or de-identify the data.

10. How we protect it

Every page that collects information is served over HTTPS (TLS), so what you type is encrypted between your device and our systems. Access to submissions is limited to the people who handle intake and to the firm you are referred to; systems are password-protected with two-factor authentication; we do not store payment details or government identifiers, and we never ask for them. No system is perfectly secure, and we will tell you and the authorities as the law requires if a breach affects you.

11. Where the data is processed

In the United States. If you use our pages from elsewhere, your information is transferred here.

12. Changes

When we change this policy we change the date at the top and, for significant changes, tell you on the page. Continuing to use the pages after a change means the new version applies.
